Nor-Cal Think Pink invites the community to participate in this significant event to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.
In 2009, Nor-Cal Think Pink received historic approval by the City of Redding to light the Sundial Bridge in pink as part of Think Pink Day. More than a thousand people attended this incredible display that shined a pink beacon upon our efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer.
We invite the general public to join us again in 2013 for this important event.

Breast Cancer affects approximately 1 in 8 women in the US.
For 2013, the National Cancer Institute estimates new cases of breast cancer to be found in 232,340 women and 2,240 men. There are more than 2.5 million cancer survivors in the US. There is a 98% cure rate when breast cancer is caught early. This is why Think Pink’s message is so important.

About Nor-Cal Think Pink
Think Pink is a community effort to promote breast cancer awareness. The campaign originated in 1997 in Northern California with three individuals, Dr. Michael Figueroa, Oncologist of Cancer Care Consultants, Carol Lake of the American Cancer Society - Northern California Unit, and Melody Christenson of MD Imaging in Redding, California. The campaign began with just 500 free bags being handed out to the public. Now Nor-Cal Think Pink distributes 40,000 breast cancer awareness bags. Dr. Figueroa and Melody Christenson are still heavily involved with Think Pink. Think Pink has spread to communities across the country.

About the Sundial Bridge
The Sundial Bridge was designed by world-famous architect Santiago Calatrava. The Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay crosses the Sacramento River in the heart of Redding, California. Opened July 4, 2004, the bridge links the north and south campuses of Turtle Bay Exploration Park and serves as a new downtown entrance for Redding¹s extensive Sacramento River Trail system.

About Santiago Calatrava
World renowned Spanish architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava conceived the Sundial Bridge¹s unusual design, his first free-standing bridge in the United States. Calatrava has built bridges, airports, rail terminals, stadiums, and other structures around the world. His notable designs include the new PATH transportation terminal at the World Trade Center site in New York City and several projects at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, including the main stadium where opening and closing ceremonies were held.
