Survivor Eileen was diagnosed with Stage 3, Invasive Her 2, Estrogen/Progesterone positive breast cancer after skipping her mammogram for 5 years due to lack of insurance. Her husband Ed remembers finding out about her diagnosis, and how a million things ran through his mind, “How is it possible? She seems perfectly fine. Is she going to survive this?” The fear he had for the unknown was amplified by the fact that for Eileen, her breast cancer was invisible, she performed self-exams and never felt anything concerning. Now, 8 years later, Ed looks at Eileen and sees the strong, brave survivor she has become. His advice for people just starting out, “Stay positive and never give up.”
